The New Warriors

Final issue! Mad thinker reveals to Namorita, Night
Thrasher, and Rage that he had helped the New Warriors keep their
heads straight (even though he was a villian) because he had a nephew
who had been mutated by one of his experiments, and now yielded
powers which he cannot cure him of. He had wanted to have the New
Warriors be the ones where his nephew can learn to control his powers
because the New Warriors were young and more open-minded than the
other, more well-established groups like the X-Men. But, since they
grew up faster than he had predicted, he couldn't. But, he gives them
a device to help them home in on the comm-badge that the New Warriors
were wearing while battling in space against Volx. He doesn't reveal
what he wants in return.
The New Warriors are stratigically positioned in space
to attack Volx's spacecraft, while Nova Omega, Hindsight, and Rich
coordinated the strategy. On one ship contains Mickey ("Turbo",
armorless now because Volx had the armor) and Alex ("Powerpax"). Alex
doesn't want to destroy the spaceship because the ship was a computer
named Friday, and to Alex, the computer (with a mind of its own) was a
friend to Alex. On another ship were Robbie ("Speedball") and Rina.
Rina, with the ability to see into the future, was scared because she
couldn't see into the future 20-minutes. It was "as if we have no
future." On the third ship are Vance ("Justice") and Angel
("Firestar"). Angel, who loves Vance, drops a bombshell on Vance by
asking him to marry her.
Volx completes a neonutralizer bomb, upgraded with
Turbo's torpedo armor, which would deprive all the humans on earth
of their powers, thus allowing him to get his revenge. Friday (the
ship's computer) tries to talk Volx out of it, but Volx overrides the
system, positioning to strike.
Justice fires the shot which destroys the ship, while
Alex watches in horror. The ship crashes onto Earth, thus preventing
the irradiation of the people, but still, a threat. Volx and the
New Warriors clash, while Rina tries to disarm the bomb. Night
Thrasher, Namorita, and Rage shows up to join them. Saal tries
to kill Volx by attempting to drain all his energy from him. Saal
is left almost dead, and before he dies, he transfers the Nova Force
back to Rich, thus restoring Rich as Nova, admitting that something
did happen on Xandar that caused this event to happen, even though
Saal wouldn't listen.
Rina couldn't prevent the neoteutralizer from
overloading, and it explodes, leaving everyone, including Volx,
poweless, though not dead, because Rina had partially weakened the
bomb by releasing some of its energy. Night Thrasher, who didn't have
any superpowers of his own, still had what made him Night Thrasher:
his combat abilities. He kills Volx with a blade stab in the head.
Epilogue: The New Warriors survey the aftermath. A
relationship seems to develop between Nova and Namorita, Speedball and
Rina, Hindsight and Turbo, and Vance and Angel. Alex discovers that
Friday had managed to survive, but was damaged badly. And, Night
Thrasher realizes that what the Thinker had wanted was the
neoneutralizer, assuming that he could fix it, which could cure his
nephew by ridding him of the deadly powers he had which kept him
confined in an isolation chamber. In the end, we see all New Warrior
members, both from the beginning and current, agree on reforming a
complete team.
