    QUICK BACKGROUND ABOUT NOVA
    line

Once your average young, ordinary, punk teenager from Queens, New York, Richard Rider was just a kid enjoying life until that day when he was struck by a power beam emitted by a dying alien Xandarian Centurion named Rhomann Dey, granting him some unbelievable superpowers, which included the power of flight, superstrength, speed, and incredible energy blasts. Nova in
RubbleLike any other young human who suddenly found himself with powers beyond imagination would do, he began a life of fighting crime. He fought villians such as Diamondhead, Powerhouse, and Condor. Little did he know, though, that there was much more responsibility than just fighting a life of crime, for with these powers, he soon discovered that he was also the Earth's assigned protector, First Centurion Prime, by the Xandarian Star Corps.

Throughout the years, he fought not only criminals on Earth, but also extraterrestrial beings that threatened the very fate of the universe, such as Zorr, the Sphinx, and Kraa. He joined up with the teenage superhero group the New Warriors later on, working with them to fight evil and save the planet countless times. He lost his powers briefly to the "...powerhungry, homicidal maniac" Garthan Saal (aka Nova Omega / Supernova) when he had been stripped of his powers by the Star Corps for not responding to a command of theirs. He gained them back, though, in the New Warrior's final issue, when Saal, dying, granted Rich back his powers.

Though the Nova series and the New Warriors series are now officially over, Nova will continue to be an important part of the Marvel historical timeline. He will be remembered best as the hot-headed, often disobedient human rocket who fought for what was right, a formiable champion of justice.
